ASSESSMENT OF GEOLOGICAL RISKS IN THE TERRITORY OF ALIJANCHAY RESERVOIR
Abstract
Despite the presence of more than 140 reservoirs in Azerbaijan, they still do not meet the population's needs for drinking water and irrigation. The creation of new water reservoirs is considered one of the most urgent problems in the state program for ensuring efficient use of water resources. There is a need to create new reservoirs in the country in order to improve the population's demand for continuous drinking water and to increase the water supply of agricultural fields. Alijanchay was formed by the combination of branches separated from Khalkhalchay, Oguzchay, and Galachay rivers flowing through the territory of Oghuz region. With the construction of the reservoir here, the water demand of the agricultural fields of the surrounding regions will be met and the drinking water supply of the population in the residential areas will be improved.
