MODERN GEODYNAMICS OF AZERBAIJAN ON GPS STATION DATA FOR 2017-2018 YEARS

Abstract

The article presents a method for calculating the velocity field of modern horizontal displace ments in the Earth’s crust of Azerbaijan, obtained from observations at 24 stationary GPS_RSSC sta tions, a characteristic aspect of which is a noticeable horizontal displacement in the north-east direction at a speed of 5-18 mm / year. Relatively stationary Eurasia revealed a general compression of the region at a rate of 4–7 mm / year, which is the source of modern geological and seismic activity in the border area of Azerbaijan and the Arabian platform.
