Abstract

The problem of search for hydrocarbon deposits is a priority direction of Azerbaijan's economy. In this regard, along with the traditional geophysical methods of prospecting and exploration, other physical methods are of great interest. One such
method is the magnetic mineralogy in the physical basis of which a priori inherent in changes in the mineralogical composition of the ferromagnetic fractions of rocks under the influence of carbon. Thus, in zones of tectonic disturbances and the oil and gas
manifestations are marked changes in the mineralogical composition of the ferromagnetic fraction and its magnetic characteristics. In particular, the effect of hydrocarbons on iron oxides and hydroxides is resulting in the formation of iron oxide
Fe O, the interaction of which with carbon dioxide leads to the formation of fine autogenic minerals such as magnetite and hydro goethite.
